Forever Young Zone

Child and Family Life Services

Enhancing the Hospital Experience

Recreation Therapy and Child and Family Life Services aims to soothe the discomfort and fear of being hospitalized by providing opportunities for children and adolescents undergoing treatment – as well as their parents and siblings – to engage in age-appropriate play, to learn about their treatments, and to interact with peers in a supportive environment.

In the Forever Young Zone, patients, parents and siblings enjoy games, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and other activities in a fun and stress-free environment. There is an ongoing need for financial support and in-kind gifts to ensure that these programs can be offered free of charge to all patients and their families at Packard Children’s.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation Services Outdoor Play Area

Treating Patients with Play

Outpatient Rehabilitation Services provides treatment for children of all ages and abilities with movement problems resulting from injury, disease or congenital conditions as well as speech and language disorders. The program is planning to build an outdoor play area to provide a fun, positive and nurturing environment for approximately 6,000 of the 8,000 patients served annually. By broadening the scope of care and opportunities for treatment, this outdoor play area will maximize the overall rehabilitation potential for these patients.

Teen Van

Teen Van

Taking High-Quality Care on the Road

Launched in September 1996, Packard's Teen Van is a 34-foot mobile clinic that provides comprehensive health care to homeless or uninsured adolescents throughout the Bay Area, making regular visits to eight partner sites in Santa Clara, San Francisco, and San Mateo Counties. The Teen Van is a one-stop shopping approach for patients between the ages of 10-25 to receive primary care, specialty care, medications, laboratory work, nutrition counseling, mental health care and social work services.

The goal of the Teen Van is to improve the health and well-being of these adolescents through preventive care and by diagnosing and addressing medical issues before they become more serious.

As the Teen Van relies entirely on community and philanthropic support, you can help us to continue to provide vital services for this vulnerable population.
