San Mateo-Burlingame Auxiliary for Children fundraises exclusively for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and has been doing so since 1942. At present the Auxiliary continues the successful annual Game Day fundraising event.
The day begins at 10 am when guests set up for bridge, mahjong, dominoes, and other games. Everyone breaks for a festive lunch, social time and a prize drawing, and the games continue into the afternoon.
San Mateo-Burlingame Auxiliary also manages a project called Blanket Brigade which has been active since 2004. As of June 1, 2011, the Auxiliary has contributed to Packard:
- 1,224 baby blankets
- 262 baptismal gowns
- 1,051 preemie caps
The Auxiliary is welcoming in 25 new members this year and is considering additional fundraising ideas, having hosted a successful benefit shopping event in February at Chico’s in San Mateo.
