In-Kind Gifts

Helpful Tips

  • Consider gifts for all ages. Packard treats newborns, toddlers, adolescents, and expectant mothers.
  • To protect the privacy of our patients and to control the spread of infection, we do not allow groups to personally distribute gifts. Donations are distributed to the children by hospital staff.
  • Stuffed and cloth toys and animals must be brand new with the tags still on them.
  • Toys should not be wrapped as presents.
  • Homemade food items or unwrapped candy cannot be accepted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I give you my child's old toys?
Unfortunately, no. The hospital can only accept new toys, in original packaging or with original tags. Our patients are usually very ill and we cannot accept used items because of infection control. However, some of our Auxiliaries accept used items for ongoing thrift sales.

Where can I bring new toys I have collected?
Please drop off toys, labeled "For Recreation Therapy," at the Information Desk near the main entrance of Packard Children's Hospital. You will be asked to fill out a simple receipt and will receive a letter of acknowledgement.

Are there other ways to help?
Gift cards are a great way to help us purchase just the right item. We commonly purchase supplies from Amazon.com, Michael's, Target, Toys R Us, and Wal Mart.

Car Donations

We don't directly accept car, truck, boat, or other vehicle donations. However, you can donate your vehicle to Cars 4 Causes, choose Lucile Packard Children's Hospital as your charity of choice, and a portion of the proceeds will be directed to the Hospital.
