Auxiliaries Endowment

Since the first auxiliary began more than 90 years ago, the continuous financial support and untiring efforts of these committed groups of volunteers have helped Packard Children’s Hospital and its predecessor organizations to remain open to all children in need of medical services.

In 1999, the auxiliaries expanded their support and extended their legacy by forming the Auxiliaries Endowment, funded by auxiliary members’ bequests to the Children’s Hospital.

Each year, payout from the Auxiliaries Endowment supports pioneering initiatives and high-priority services and programs for children. Examples of projects supported by the Endowment include:

  • Cystic Fibrosis research
  • Patient education program
  • Spanish-speaking chaplaincy
  • Care-A-Van transportation services for family
  • Video conferencing for medical interpretation services
  • Renovations to family lounges
  • Information kiosk and child-friendly accessories in outpatient clinics
  • Multi-year pledge to fund surgical waiting room in Packard’s planned Phase II expansion

The Auxiliaries Endowment has grown to more than $12 million, and has generated substantial investment income which is given as annual grants to Packard Children’s Hospital. Read the Fall 2009 Accolades newsletter to learn more.
