The David and Lucile Packard Foundation has announced plans to commit up to $100 million towards the expansion of Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, a focus of our Breaking New Ground Campaign.

Half of this remarkable commitment is designated as a challenge to the philanthropic community to help raise the remaining $100 million needed to expand the Hospital. The Packard match will be a 1:2 challenge, with every two dollars given by a donor earning one dollar of the grant.

With the existing facility operating well beyond its intended capacity, growth will allow the Hospital to sustain its mission—providing the community’s children access to the most advanced cures, treatments, and technologies, performed by the best minds in pediatric medicine, within a family-centered environment. Our planned expansion will eventually double the Hospital’s size, adding much-needed new surgical, diagnostic, and treatment rooms.
