Co-Chairs' Message

Dear Friends,

We are pleased and honored to be a part of Breaking New Ground, an exciting next step for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and the child health programs of the Stanford University School of Medicine. Our Campaign aims to raise $500 million to help fund a planned expansion of the Hospital and to support education, training, and research at the School of Medicine.

Packard’s transformation into one of the nation’s top pediatric medical centers has brought with it new needs and opportunities. Every year, more families come to the Children’s Hospital for our specialized care, but the small size and technological limitations of our current facilities restrict the level of service we can provide.

Our planned expansion, while crucial, is only part of the answer to outstanding pediatric care. One-third of our Campaign goal is earmarked for the School of Medicine, with a major focus on creating endowed fellowships to train the next generation of pediatric leaders, and faculty scholar awards to support junior faculty who will shape the future of pediatric care.

To help spur the development of new treatments for childhood diseases, the Campaign also supports cutting-edge pediatric research. Packard and Stanford attract many of the most brilliant and passionate clinicians and scientists in children’s health. This important partnership enables the Hospital to achieve much more, and do so more quickly, than traditional stand-alone children’s hospitals.

With broad community involvement, Packard Children’s and the Stanford School of Medicine will continue to lead the way in caring for local children and seeking cures for pressing pediatric illnesses. Philanthropy ensures that in addition to providing outstanding care now, we can look forward to an even better future for children in our community and beyond.

We hope that you will consider joining us in this endeavor.

Sincerely yours,

Anne T. Bass
