A small child in excruciating abdominal pain was recently rushed to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Emergency Department. He had been experiencing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea for nearly 24 hours. His parents were frantic. Medical staff in the ED performed a quick ultrasound, which showed that the child had appendicitis. The staff calmed the child and parents and scheduled surgery that day....(Read entire story)
